Sinus Augmentation

Sinus augmentation (also know as sinus lift or sinus graft) is an oral surgery procedure in which bone is added to the upper jaw or maxilla in the area of the premolar and molar teeth.  In these upper back areas of the mouth there is not much bone due to the hollow space called the sinus to place implants.  The goal of the surgery is to graft enough bone material to make it taller.  To make the room for the bone material, the sinus membrane has to be moved upward, or "lifted."
